4th of July in Puyallup

Put your flag out.
We are closing in on Independence Day. We all remember what happened on this day.
We are FREE because there have always been certain people in our country who have been willing to sacrifice for the rest of us. These people, WHEREVER THE FIGHT IS, will always show up. They will stand between us and the ones that would harm us. They stand firm and tell us: I’M HERE NOW! DON’T BE AFRAID ON MY WATCH! These people are my heroes. They don’t do it for the money. They don’t do it for the glory. They do it because it’s right!! They are strong, and so many of us are the weaker kid on the block.
To any person in uniform, I want to give you my Thanks. I know what it is to be in your shoes. I have walked those miles. It is so much better when someone appreciates you.
I would tell all of you: When you see someone in uniform……go up and say Thank you!!!
It is because of them……. we are free!!

I have been so anxious for this 4th for the reasons you cite here. My father recently passed away and he had a military burial. It brought me to tears as the soldiers in uniform handed me the flag that covered his casket. The only thing I could do was whisper thanks for your service as they saluted me and gave me the flag.

You’re right Larry.
We have the flag they gave us at my father’s service. My brother has it displayed over his mantle. A few years ago, at the fireworks display on Lake Union, a big Sikorsky helicopter flew around the lake with a giant flag. I couldn’t talk for several minutes. I was thinking to myself what this all means to me and my family.
